5x a good idea for B2C and B2B content marketing / social – Feb 2016

content ideaOne of the biggest obstacles to executing a content marketing strategy is creating new and original content regularly. Everyone has days when they just can’t come up with a good content idea. Sometimes you just need a bit of inspiration. Coming up with ideas is (part of) what we do, which is why we regularly share some great social media / content ideas for your site or channel. Share your results in the comments!

A good Online Marketing campaign relies on strong content, and we’re happy to brainstorm with you:

1. Infographic (of a (customer) process)

A good infographic is shareable, clearly communicates its message, and looks appealing. It’s ideal content and is successfully used by outlets like the New York Times. But what can you make an infographic about? Some possibilities:

  • A product and how different customers interact with it
  • Visually explain a process you get many questions about
  • Who is your target audience? You can bet you’ll get responses, especially if customers can recognize themselves

2. Interview a colleague for content

You know your company like no other, but do your customers really know how seriously the quality manager takes their job? Or how that new product was developed? Chances are your target audience has no idea but would be interested. And all you have to do is ask!

3. What if?

Look at your target audience, market, or product from a different perspective. Think about which factors are ‘just the way they are’ and describe what would happen if they changed. For example, we could write: “What if advertising no longer existed?”. And a food company might ask: “What if sugar as an additive was banned?”. Which ‘fixed’ factors currently dominate your market and how would the market change ‘if’? We’re already curious! Example: What if energy was free

4. Tips & Tricks

Your product is probably used in many different ways. Share these with your target audience! Maybe someone never thought of ‘the’ way that turns out to be decisive for them. A good example? SMS was invented by telecom companies to communicate network issues; no one thought people would want to send messages to each other! No idea how your product is actually used? Maybe it’s time to take a closer look! Example: WD40

5. Predictions

What will your market look like in 10 years? What will have changed? Show your target audience that you’re looking to the future and working on what your customers will then want. This is also a great way to logically explain your company’s new direction.

That’s all the inspiration for now. Even if you don’t like the ideas, we’re sure you’ve come up with something that is fun. Mission accomplished! By the way, we’re very curious what you do with these ideas or what results from them. Will you share your results in the comments?
